#30

I am stoked to share all the photos I have been taking here on our trip to NYC….but for my 365 submission, I HAD to put up this one.

I found it!!!  When I saw the Renaissance Hotel, all the memories came rushing back with serious force.  It was where my sister, mom and I stayed when we were on the Sally Jesse Raphael Show in 1992.  It was a magical time for me…this 18 year old in THE city.  I will never forget the times we had while visiting…the Candies heels my sister and I bought in that sketchy basement shop, running across the street to get pizza in the middle of the night, driving around Manhattan thinking for sure we were going to “kissed” by all the taxis,  the incessant amount of horn blowing, being thrown over a family member’s shoulder as we walked through times square, shopping in Jersey because it had no sales tax, seeing a mugging take place and all of us running after the bad guy, glued to the money scamming shell game being played near the Renaissance, the one time I thought I’d be cool an have a fake ID so we could pub crawl…then lost it almost immediately,  telling Sally how I really felt about the elopement (my one shot on syndicated TV and I was a total goofball), and that horrific plane ride home (we go hard).  But mostly, it brings me back to thinking of my mom and sister Thyme and what an awesome experience we had together.  Some memories are just cooler than others aren’t they?

Emmys

20130922-213436.jpg

Did you watch the Emmys?! I saw a good chunk….

The memoir to Jean Stapleton….gawd I used to watch Edith Bunker every week and loved her innocent yet sassy temperament with her kids and Archie. And Cory Monteith….a sense of destruction indeed. His tragic demise is a looking glass into how normal people can always hold a piece of dysfunction. Help ‘right’ the ones in your life that are in too deep. Then James Gandolfini….what an example of how an actor can be so far removed from his character. The good ones are always taken too soon. RIP to those and so many others who passed during this year.

Julia Louis Dreyfus’ acceptance speech may have been confidently rehearsed, but man does she still have it! I need to watch Veep!

EHD aka Excessive Hosting Disorder. Neil Patrick Harris, Billy Crystal, Arsenio Hall, Whoopi, Chris Rock, Carson Daly and the chairman Ryan Seacrest! If you’re not doing a musical number, you’re not doing it right! Insert Emmy gold dancers! Where are the Blurred Lines chicks?

Big ups to the orchestra….well played 10 second rule!

Jim Parsons getting emotional….Sheldon would not approve!!! But well deserved fo sho!

Diahann Carroll hitting on present day actors…..I assume Jax was on her list!! Dude, Diahann Carroll is still amazingly gorgeous!!!

The category for outstanding writers in a variety show…..the toddlers in tiara intro was hilarious!!! You ever notice how Stephen Colbert looks like Ed Helms?! Just sayin….

And then I fell asleep…..bc Sunday is a long ass day Yvonnnnnne!!!

Have a fabulous, productive week…and don’t take anybody’s shit! Boom….

Days of December

Last night, one of my favorite shows ended its 5th season.  Sons is my $hit!  I’m so annoyed that it only ever carries out 13 episodes.  But I know it’s because they pack each one with so much heart, angst, foreshadowing, and brotherhood.  I think what I like most is the fact that these actors have sunken deep into their roles and the true brotherhood of an MC.

When Opie got killed off in the beginning of the season, it was a huge shift in the show and for Ryan Hurst, the actor who play him.  Sure it left him open to pursue other roles (see him in the upcoming new show King & Maxwell on TNT), however he mourned Opie the same way we all did.  With no other way to move past his character, Hurst gathered up the crew and they proceeded cutting off Opie’s beard.  I can understand the emotion and grief.  We miss him too..

Or what about the fact that Clay has evaded an inevitable death by Jax and has been ousted from the MC… The lengths that Charlie Hunnam went through in order to make that real is another example of why this show is so gut wrenching and captivating.  This is the interview explaining what how Hunnam achieved this…

‘SOA’ scoop: Why Hunnam stopped talking to Perlman this season

The other side I want to point out is their commitment to giving back.  For years, this ensemble has donated time, monies, and  goods on numerous charitable efforts. The most recent, Hogs for Heart.

Bottom line, the cast and crew have become a family and will forever be intertwined with the experiences and memories of SOA.  I know I won’t forget it…especially with him to remind me:

I Dream of Being an Old Lady

Sons of Anarchy started in the states last night.  I have been patiently waiting for it to come back into my Wednesday morning fold for almost 9 months.  I just want to reiterate why I love this show so much…

Reason #10: The guy from Remember the Titans is in it…and he’s such a great actor 🙂

Get em Op…aka Ryan Hurst

Reason #9: I secretly do love motorcycles.  I remember the first time I rode on one….the rush is amazing!

Reason #8: Charming is so seedy and grimy.  It reminds of Westgate, one of the neighborhoods I lived in growing up…as a matter of fact, when we lived there someone swerved on our street and almost drove their motorcycle into our house…coincidence?

Reason#7: Katy Sagal is one funny broad…and an equally frightening one.  This is the true sign of a stellar actor…

Reason #6: Samcro is a family even though they are not blood related.  They would lay down their lives for one another and support each other…much like a military family would do, without all the drug cartels and gang banging going on…I hope.

Reason #5: The opening sequence…I love the morphing tattoos and that gritty music.

Reason #4: The tattoos!!  This is a reason all on its own.  I love tats…especially when they are glistening in the light with sweat on Jax.

Reason #3: Half Sack…he was a refreshing character on the show.  I was sad when he was killed off but rejoiced when they patched him in after death….he brought humility to the MC.

Reason #2: I never thought about being an Old Lady until watching this show.  They have more power than I expected while maintaining that subservient spot within the club. Plus, it would be interesting to have a whole gang of dudes watching your back…hard!  Oh, and I am only referring to being Jax’s old lady…no need to apply.

Reason #1: He draws me in every week, he keeps my heart racing throughout, and he keeps me up long after the show has ended…

Seriously…is there really any other reason?  Oh Charlie Hunnam, you make me wanna buy some chaps and stalk you.

Enough about the reasons…It’s about that time to get my Sons on…

Old Lady, Out!
